DB Hosting respects your privacy. This notice explains how personal information is handled when you visit our website, create an account, buy a service or contact support.

Who is responsible for your information?

[SOLE TRADER LEGAL NAME], trading as DB Hosting, is the controller for personal information used to operate DB Hosting except where another organisation acts as an independent controller for its own purposes.

• domain names, hosting account identifiers and service configuration;
• support messages and correspondence;

Why we use it and lawful bases

We use information to create and administer accounts, process orders, provide hosting and websites, communicate about services, provide support, secure our systems, keep accounting/legal records and establish or defend legal claims. Depending on the activity, our lawful basis may be performance of a contract, taking steps at your request before entering a contract, compliance with legal obligations, or legitimate interests such as service security, fraud prevention and business administration. Where consent is legally required, we will ask for it separately and you may withdraw it.

Payments and service providers

Payment transactions may involve the payment provider selected at checkout. We generally receive transaction status/reference information rather than needing to store full payment-card details ourselves. We may also use hosting/infrastructure, email and other suppliers necessary to deliver and secure the service. Providers may act as processors or independent controllers depending on their role.

Hosting customer content

When a hosting customer uses DB Hosting infrastructure to process personal data for their own purposes, the customer may be the controller and DB Hosting may act as a processor for that hosted data. Additional data-processing terms may be required where UK GDPR Article 28 applies.

Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described, including providing active services, resolving support matters, security, accounting/tax requirements and handling legal claims. Different records have different retention periods. When information is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymised where appropriate.

International transfers

Some suppliers or infrastructure may process information outside the UK. Where UK data-protection law requires safeguards for a restricted transfer, we will use an appropriate lawful mechanism.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability and rights relating to certain automated decisions. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent. Rights are subject to legal conditions and exemptions.
